Brook grew up on a family farm and cattle operation in southwestern Kansas, and earned an agribusiness degree from Kansas State University. After graduation, she went to work for Cargill Meat Solutions. She held a series of sales and brand management positions with Cargill, where she managed the company’s multi-million-dollar beef and pork sales account with companies including McDonald’s and SYSCO Foodservice. She also served as an auditor for IMI Global, where she worked hand-in-hand with growers, feeders and finishers on production practices and procedures, and volunteered on beef leadership teams at the Kansas state capital.
Brook ultimately settled in Amarillo, Texas, where she started a successful retail business. And while she has plenty to keep her busy between overseeing her company and caring for her two small children, she admits she missed working in the ag industry.
“I wasn’t actively looking for something more to do, but rather waiting for the right thing to come along,” she said. “I missed the feed yards. That is my comfort zone and my passion,” she explained. “One of my old yard managers knew I was thinking about getting back into the business, and when (Pacific Ag General Manager) Eddie Rowe mentioned they were looking for someone, that’s when the connection happened,” she said. “It’s an awesome fit and perfect timing.”
